Darrell Cowlan, of Springfield, who was recently released on larceny, breaking and entering, and fraud charges, was arrested again in connection with several car break-ins in the Forest Park neighborhood, police said.

Police said they had reports of car break-ins in that area and found surveillance footage that showed the suspect. Officers were able to identify Cowlan in them.

On Friday, Oct. 20, detectives arrested Cowlan on Belmont Avenue.

He is charged with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle (two counts) and theft under $1200, Springfield police said.

In March 2021, Cowlan was accused of stealing credit cards from the vehicles and trying to use them in five different incidents at three different locations, according to police.

Cowlan was charged with:

  • Credit card fraud
  • Attempt to commit a crime
  • Receiving a stolen credit card
  • Four counts of credit card fraud under $1200
  • Three counts of larceny under $1200
  • Two counts of receiving a lost credit card

It's unclear if he was convicted on those charges.
